This page is intended to provide reminders to help you and others maintain a conscious connection to the universe. We're currently offering greeting cards with science-related themes to help you stay aware of the properties of the universe you're immersed in. We will add more materials as our resources allow. Suggestions and materials to include are welcome.

Holiday Cards

Looking for a holiday card that helps spread awareness of the wonderful universe we live in? Here are a couple of ideas, which you can download and print out. The text of each card is copied below. When folded, the cards are 4 1/4" by 5 1/2" and fit into "invitation size" envelopes, available at office supply stores.

Starlight: "When you glance at an average star in the night sky, the light that you see has been traveling for a hundred years, hurtling through space at 186,000 miles per second, until one magical night, it ends its journey,...by lighting up your eyes. May your holiday season be filled with wonder."

Peace on Earth: "There are about 400 billion stars in our galaxy and over a billion galaxies in the visible universe. We have found life on one planet, orbiting one star. May there be peace on earth this holiday season."

Ages: "Age of the universe: ~15 billion years. Age of the Earth: ~ 4.6 billion years. Age of human species: ~ 200 thousand years. Makes you feel young, doesn't it? Happy Birthday!"

Graduation or Encouragement Cards

The following graduation or general encouragement cards are 5 1/2'' x 8 1/2'' when printed out and folded once. The text of each card is copied below. Click on the appropriate link to get the complete card, as an image you can print and copy.

Reach for the stars: "As you set your sights on your next goal, remember that the nearest star is 93 million miles away. But you are made of atoms created in the stars. So go ahead and reach for your star...You've got it in you."

Never stop exploring: "'The known is finite, the unknown infinite; intellectually we stand on an islet in the midst of an illimitable ocean of inexplicability. Our business in every generation is to reclaim a little more land.' - T.H. Huxley...May you never stop exploring the cosmos."

Food for thought:

"Regardless of different personal views about science, no credible understanding of the natural world or our human existence…can ignore the basic insights of theories as key as evolution, relativity, and quantum mechanics." - The Dalai Lama
