Are you suggesting a second assumption here?
All we agreed to was that the frame was to be no larger than the universe.
We did not agree that the frame and universe are of the same size.
The assumption of the size of the reference frame was arbitrary and
without reference to any relevancy, it seems therefore reasonable
to continue to arbitrarily allow the frame to do what it wills.
So, although we agreed to assume that the reference frame is not larger
than the universe, it could be any size, smaller than the universe.
Right?
Since our assumption made no reference to the relationship of the
universe and the frame, nor to the function of the frame relative
to the universe, as long as the frame is smaller than the universe,
the size of the universe is irrelevant unless it became smaller than
the reference frame, in which case the frame would have to contract.
Right?
Sid
