<< "The question of all questions for humanity, the problem which
lies behind all others and is more interesting than any of them is
that of the determination of man's place in Nature and his relation
to the Cosmos. Whence our race came, what sorts of limits are set to
our power over Nature and to Nature's power over us, to what goal we
are striving, are the problems which present themselves afresh, with
undiminished interest, to every human being born on earth."-- T.H.
Huxley >>
Hello to everyone on Todd's new list!
What is most interesting to me is to turn Huxley's question around and reflect it back on the consciousness that is doing the asking. Then the question of all questions is why humans seem to have a drive that seeks to know their place in the cosmos and about the meaning of it all. Exactly what is it about consciousness that leads us to ask Huxley's question of each other and ourselves? Clues to answering this question might offer a glimpse into our identity and our role in a universe that created us.
Best wishes,
-Jack Semura

"Regardless of different personal views about science, no credible understanding of the natural world or our human existence…can ignore the basic insights of theories as key as evolution, relativity, and quantum mechanics." - The Dalai Lama
