dear friends,

my childhood during the "energy crisis" of the carter administration scarred me forever, and as an adult i have become an advocate of "creative recycling." i know many of my friends have the same outlook on our uses of materials commonly considered disposable. i frequently clean off plastic spoons and forks after a first use, and tuck them away for another day.
likewise, i often rinse out a "disposable" water bottle for another day, too. please read the following email carefully, and decide for yourselves about the precautions of reusing plastic water bottles. a link for more info. is at the bottom of the message.

peace, love and recycling,
klava

THINK TWICE BEFORE REUSING THAT PLASTIC WATER BOTTLE!
If you're in the habit of washing and reusing plastic
water bottles, you may want to limit the practice.
(Can you say back-wash? Bacteria?) Washing
water bottles before you reuse them can help cut down
on illness-causing bacteria. However, researchers
caution that washing and reusing disposable water
bottles over and over may accelerate the breakdown of
the plastic, increasing your exposure to potentially
harmful chemicals. Limit yourself to one or
two reuses.

Safety Month web page at http://ofeo.si.edu/safety_health/A%20Bad%20Bottle%20Habit.doc
