 > Subject: Climb Mt Hood with your Science List friends.
 >
 > Dear Todd and associates,
 >
 > There is a group of us with SII and ISEPP who will be climbing
            Mt. Hood
 > on the weekend of June 2-3. We wondered if anyone on the list
            was
 > interested in coming along. I will be giving a classroom session,
            a field
 > session and the evening/ ascent. I have extensive experience
            in climbing.
 > If you don't have your gear, you can rent it. The climb is un
            sponsered.
 > This is an informal fun hike/climb. It doesn't take a super athlete
            to hike
 > for 4-5 hours, with lots of rest stops, up the south side of
            Hood.
 >
 > The glissade down the gentle south slope is the thrill of your
            life.
 > Hopefully our small group will have a life bonding experience
            sharing the
 > exposure and mountain sunrise! We'll climb/hike sensibility with
            all safety
 > precautions. For the summit pitch, we will use ice axe, crampons
            and a rope
 > for safety. We will practice on a slope prior to the final ascent
            to get
 > used to climbing techniques for the summit slope. On the descent,
            well take
 > a lesurely pace and stop at silcox hut for refreshments.
