The concept of evolution
was used to justify the actions of people. That use was not scientific,
but the concept of evolution was tainted because the verbiage referred
to it. The action against Jews and other minorities is hundreds
of years old. The Jews in the reconquered Spain were forced to give
up their faith or suffer consequences. Confiscation of property
has been justified by people, churches and governments to enrich
themselves. Germany has had rule of a powerful few for a long time;
during the time of Luther, movements for freedom and property rights
were put down violently. There was no means of meeting the needs
of individuals over political forces. The same was true of Czarist
Russia. Kings with the consent of churches were considered to be
given the right to govern by God.
Regarding Planned Parenthood,
they are not a governing body. Many people would seek those services
legally or illegally. It was done in the past at the risk of the
mother's life "in backrooms and alleys." Society has and
still objects to supporting mothers with childrens. Welfare is largely
given by governmental units. Both political parties in the United
States are proud of decreasing support to mothers with children.
The psychological pain of giving up a child to adoption is never
mentioned or considered. That pain does not stop with giving up
the child, but continues after the child was given up -- I have
never seen that mentioned by anyone. Society justifies these issues
without addressing them.
The concept of evolution
is criticized in many ways. Use of it in reference in supporting
people's pet ideas is only one criticism of evolution. That Darwin
had other ideas than evolution is used to criticize evolution. Darwin
was a person. He may have been in part responsible for developing
and popularizing evolution, but he is not evolution. Mendle's genetics
is as much evolution. Evolution and genetics are opposite side of
the same coin. To often that is ignored.
