Hi everyone,

There's a book put out recently by the National Research Council that has some valuable insights about how people best learn science (and other subjects).

"How People Learn: Bridging Research and Practice." (1999)

It can be read on-line at: http://books.nap.edu/html/howpeople2/

We've been discussing it in Center for Science Education meetings, and many of the ideas support the approaches to teaching science that we've been talking about on this list.

Food for thought:

"Regardless of different personal views about science, no credible understanding of the natural world or our human existence…can ignore the basic insights of theories as key as evolution, relativity, and quantum mechanics." - The Dalai Lama
